| 摘要 | The explosive growth of latency-sensitive IoT applications and the emergence of 6G networks are placing unprecedented demands on cloud radio access networks (C-RAN), with the fronthaul segment becoming a critical performance bottleneck. Conventional fixed time-slot scheduling in optical fronthaul networks struggles to accommodate the highly dynamic and bursty traffic patterns inherent in emerging IoT and 6G applications. The static allocation of time-slots prevents networks from responding flexibly to real-time traffic variations, causing some slots to remain underutilized during periods of low traffic, while others become congested under high-load conditions. To address the limitations of conventional fixed time-slot scheduling in optical fronthaul systems, this paper proposes a buffer-aware, adaptive time-slot scheduling mechanism tailored for optical switching-based C-RAN architectures. The proposed mechanism operates on a matrix of virtual queues and employs a max-occupancy arbitration strategy to prioritize heavily loaded buffers, ensuring contention-free transmissions across transmitter-receiver (Tx-Rx) port pairs. Furthermore, the time-slot duration is dynamically adjusted based on real-time buffer occupancy ratio, providing fine-grained control over bandwidth allocation while protecting unscheduled queues from overflow. Experimental results demonstrate that the adaptive time-slot scheduling approach achieves a 2.6x reduction in average latency and maintains packet loss rates below 2.37E-10 under full-load conditions-significantly outperforming fixed timeslot-slot mechanism that exhibit up to 67.32% packet loss. |
